Our course is presented by Daphne and David Barden of Long Garden Bees, Co. Longford. Daphne is a fourth-generation beekeeper and is passionate about the workings of the honeybee and the lessons we can take from them. Whilst, David is in charge of all things honey related!
In this series of six online modules, we will explore:
The History of the Honeybee
Who is in the hive?
Equipment and Parts of the Hive
Thinking like a hive – how the colony communicate and operate
The Beekeeper’s Role
Supporting our Native Irish Honeybees and other vital pollinators
The Beekeeping Year
Honey and its benefits
Also included with this course is a ‘Bee-ginner Guide’. This colourful and visually striking manual, is filled with useful information for beekeepers as they begin their journey into beekeeping. At the end of the course, there is an assessment and certificate provided.
Follow-on support is offered to all participants through a private Facebook group, where successes, concerns and questions can be asked and shared in a safe learning environment.
Our next online Beekeeping Bee-Ginner course begins November 23.
